January Reading Rundown…

With Christmas and New Year over, January always feels like a clean page – crisp, full of possibility, and everybody is quietly buzzing with excitement of what 2026 will bring….

A new year of reading stretches ahead, untitled and unwritten, inviting us to imagine all the stories, ideas, and voices we’ll encounter along the way. There’s something special about this moment: the anticipation, the planning, and the gentle motivation to begin again.

This is the month where reading feels fresh. TBR lists are rewritten, reading journals are opened to their first pages, and goals no matter on whether they are big or small – start to take shape. Whether you’re planning to read widely, read slowly, or simply read for joy, January sets the tone.

It’s not about perfection; it’s about possibility and reading without the pressure of ‘fitting the trend’.

Read what YOU want and not what the social media trend is pressuring you to read.

I’ve been reading a variety of genres this month, including my secret Santa gift from a member of my book club. This book took me back to my childhood and the adventures of Badger, Rat, Mole, and Toad in the story of The Willows in Winter by William Horwood. This book was covering our theme for January which was ‘a book with an animal on the cover’ ( review to follow later this week )
