Falling into Stories – The Magic of Reading or Listening to books in the Autumn.

As the air turns crisp and the trees turn from bright greens to reds, oranges and golden tones, there is something irresistibly comforting about Autumn.

The season invites us to slow down, take a breath and savour the moment…. And what a better companion for these quiet hours than a good book and a hot drink?

When the world outside hums with rustling leaves blowing in the breeze, the dusky evenings drawing even earlier day by day and the smell of a wholesome hot meal drifting through the home, there is nothing better than grabbing a book, taking a seat and a deep breath while you wait for dinner to be ready {just make sure to set a couple of timers so you don’t burn your dinner 😬 – I have been known to do this more than once but for me its mainly cakes or biscuits}.

If you can …… make this a daily or weekly ritual to take some time for yourself.

There’s a special kind of magic in curling up with a blanket, a warm drink and a story {whether it be a physical book, ebook or an audio book} they all have the ability to transport you to another world. It’s the perfect escape from the chilliest and wettest of evenings and the early sunsets making the nights seem never ending.

I find I gravitate towards a good classic as the season begins, some favourites of mine are The Railway Children by E. Nesbit and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson which set the tone for the misty mornings and the beginning of the colder temperatures.

Autumn reminds us that change can be beautiful, books remind us that although everything comes to an end at some point….. that ending holds the promise of a new beginning.

So, this Autumn, take the time to walk through a bookstore, reread an old favourite {or two}, or even discover a new world between the pages of a new author/genre.

🍁 Let the stories fall around you like leaves 🍁

🍁 See where they take you 🍁
